HO WE ARE

The Hungarian Hollywood Council is a non-governmental civil organization established in 2016 in Budapest, Hungary.

Its membership list contains approximately 500 names, among them film professionals from Hungary and from the USA (mainly Hungarian originated Americans), as well as film-loving people with different backgrounds.

Its president is Mr. Balázs Bokor, a former Ambassador who also served as Consul General of Hungary in Los Angeles. The Council has a 10-members Presidency including the President and the Vice President (the 1981 Oscar winner Ferenc Rófusz, Director of „The Fly”).

WHAT WE DO IN A NUTSHELL

– to discover the Hungarian roots of the Hollywood film industry

– to keep the memory of those Hungarians who had become important and well-known in Hollywood

– to cooperate with the those Hungarian municipalities where Hollywood Hungarian film icons were born or their family came from (to erect memorial plates, to maintain their family houses, to name cultural centers, cinemas, conference halls after these film icons)

– to encourage the young generations from the Hollywood Hungarian film icons birth places to deal with the film heritage of those icons, to establish film clubs, film societies on the spots

– to arrange conferences, memorial gatherings, club events, cultural nights, film screenings, film festivals commemorating important film icons

– to support young people who want to start their film carreer, to help them to build their film network, to get together with film professionals

– to arrange training courses, training camps, workshops for young people where well-known film professionals are at their help

– to set up a national network of „who knows more about Hollywood Hungarians” in schools where teams can compete their knowledge on national level

– to encourage the love and devotion towards films

– to support tourism in the areas where the birth places of important Hollywood Hungarians are located in Hungary
